Huawen® SMA resins (styrene maleic anhydride copolymers) are commonly used as surface sizing agents in the paper industry. They provide limited crosslinking between the surface sizing solution and cellulose, thereby improving the printability, hydrophobicity, toner adhesion, and coefficient of friction of paper and paperboard. This reduces issues such as linting and peeling.
